L2L Leadership Institute Partnership with UFSC Richmond
The Richmond Chapter of Urban Financial Services Coalition formed an official partnership with L2L Leadership Institute in 2015. Through this mutually beneficial relationship UFSC Richmond is able to provide its members with ongoing professional development, which includes webinars/workshops, coaching, and career advancement assistance. UFSC Richmond serves as the philanthropic and community outreach arm of L2L Leadership Institute.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Urban Financial Services Coalition was founded in 1974. Celebrating 50 years history, the organization currently has nine chapters, national members across the United States, and a youth leadership program as well as an independent affiliate in Canada. With a database of over 5,000 professionals, UFSC as an extensive network to deliver its financial education programs and participate in advocacy for minority communities and businesses

Three Focus Areas
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Improving the financial condition of our ethnically and culturally diverse communities through financial literacy/education programs, home ownership, entrepreneurship, advanced wealth building workshops and local economic development initiatives. UFSC-Richmond Chapter conducts first-time homeownershin seminars, wealth building & protection sessions, food & finance sessions. We also partner with local financial institutions and the Office of Community Wealth Building to provide ongoing financial literacy sessions.
EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT : Delivering a wide variety of programs to assist minority youth pursuing careers in financial services, such as (1) educational, technical and advisory assistance where needed (2) scholarship programs for undergraduate/graduate studies and (3) mentorship and internship opportunities for college students and newly hired professionals. The UFSC Richmond Chapter partners with Virginia Union University, Virginia State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Partnership for the Future, Team Excel, Girls for a Change, Girls Scouts of America, and Boys Scouts of America.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Supporting the exchange of experiences, ideas and interests in order to promote career and professional development including a premier job bank of experienced minority professionals and commensurate career opportunities. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In addition to the three focus areas of UFSC, the Richmond Chapter also has a Community Engagement Focus. We partner with Boaz & Ruth, Fifth Street Baptist Church, LUX Church, The Links, Incorporated, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and NAACP to do various outreach activities. Our signature event is the Annual MLK Drum Majors Awards with takes place in January. We have been hosting this event with our partners for 20 years.
